Freedom Reins Ranch was created by Mike and Jenny Roetheli in 2010. It is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization. It was created as a ministry to children, and dedicated to God’s purpose and designs for all those who come here, whether adult volunteer or child. Proverbs 16:3 says, Commit your work to the Lord, and your plans will succeed.” We have dedicated this ministry as the Lord’s ministry, and as such, He is our guiding force in all we do. He has provided the Ranch facilities to us, and has given us several horses that we can use to start the ministry. Our overriding goal is to glorify God in and through all we do and bring others closer to Him through our programs.
We have modeled our program after a similar program in Oregon–Crystal Peaks Youth Ranch (CPYR). We have visited them and have attended a seminar they offer to help ministries such as ours get off to a good start. We went to visit them in 2009, and shortly thereafter, God started to put the pieces of our program together by guiding us to a property that was for sale in Clyde, TX. We were looking for a middle-sized town in Texas that didn’t currently have a horse program similar to the one we wanted to start, so Clyde’s proximity to Abilene seemed ideal. When all the details of buying the property and moving seemed to go so smoothly, we knew that it had worked out according to God’s plan.
